“Right Now”: A Toaster Car Challenge | Day 25

Day 25

Channeling your inner creativity can be a challenge. In order for most endeavors to be successful you have to differentiate your idea from the rest of the pack. Some even take their creativity to a level that is considered an art form.

When Steve Jobs set out to revolutionize the cell phone industry, he entered uncharted territories to differentiate the iPhone apart from its competitors. When Bill Gates and Paul Allen met in the Poker Room at Harvard University to brainstorm their own computer software company, they navigated new waters to make Microsoft what it is today. Some of corporate America’s best success stories are by driven individuals who channeled their inner creativity. Their inner artist transformed the world we live in today.

Tonight as we were walking home from work, we saw a car designed by an individual who is literally “driving” his inner artist. Enter the “Toaster Car.” It sounds as crazy as it looks. The “Toaster Car” was fully equipped with two slices of “toast” sticking out the roof, an electrical cord on the rear bumper to “plug in”, and a toaster button on the front grill for, well you guessed it, toasting. The car itself was truly a work of art.

As I snapped a couple photos and continued on my way, I kept thinking to myself how the “Toaster Car” is a great reminder for us all to “drive” our inner artist.

Is there a skill you have always wanted to develop? If so, what is holding you back on such pursuit?

Is there a problem you have always wanted to solve? If so, what is preventing you from implementing a solution?

Are you stifling the creativity within you?

The husband and I keep a white board in the house. On this board, we jot down additional skills we want to acquire. On this board, we document potential solutions to less than ideal situations. It is our idea board. It is where we encourage each other to “drive” our inner artist and to be creative.

Tonight, I will write on the idea board “Right Now.” “Right Now” nothing is more expensive than regret. I will not let excuses like a lack of time stand in my way anymore. Sometimes we all need a little reminder to “drive” our inner artist. Sometimes it even takes seeing a “Toaster Car” to remind us a challenge is worth pursuing “Right Now.”

  1. The car is too funny! I’m glad you snapped some pictures of it. Your text though was even better. I’m taking a creativity class and this week she talked about affirmations. That’s a good one for me too to remember “right now”.
